The sun is shining, the days are longer, and our little ones are finally out of school! Summer is the time of year we all look forward to but worry as it approaches. Vacation, free time, and no school sounds like a great combination, but as parents it can be problematic. School may stop but we must continue to work. Summer camps are key to making sure our little ones are active and having fun while we continue to fulfill our duties.
Regardless of the age, summer camps are key to helping our kids interact with other peers and grow their social circles. Instead of being at home watching TV all day, they get to have fun with new friends from different schools, backgrounds, and sometimes from different countries. It’s the opportunity to learn and grow outside a traditional class room.
Fortunately, we live in an area where there are plenty of summer camps to choose from. This means you get to position your child in a personalized program that can align with their interests, help them catchup with the upcoming academics, or develop their skills. Also, summer camps are a great way for kids to learn about new subjects that many schools don’t cover. Whether its sports or the arts, summer camps allow for kids to fully immerse themselves in a new field that they will enjoy.
Besides the specific topics summer camps cover, kids also get to develop their leadership and cooperation skills. Summer camps are meant to help youth get out of their comfort zones and interact with others. They work in teams to solve problems, they must present their ideas in front of groups, and even get to create their very own invention. Learning is not just done inside a classroom and it doesn’t end when school is out.
Summer learning loss is an issue many kids face because they stop the routine of being academically challenged. Avoiding this on our own is difficult. Therefore, the best way to make sure they will continue use their skills and what they have learned throughout the year is by allowing them to participate in the summer camps available. Whether it’s a day camp or a full-time sleep over program, your little one will thank you at the end of the summer for being a part of an amazing adventure all summer long!
